How to filter and sort reports

Once a report has been Compiled, the resulting data can be further filtered and sorted within the browser.

 

Default Sort Order

Reports that contain a date value use the date value as the default sort order, placing the most current record at the top of the results. This default sort order matches the default sort order of log pages.

Reports that contain Items or Activities usually use the Item or Activity number as the default sort order, placing the lowest numerical value at the top.

Updating Sort Order

While compiled reports can be exported into Excel, where further sorting and filter can be applied, the reports can be updated within the Platform as well. 

To change the default sort order, click on one of the column headers to open the column options menu.

Number Description Purpose
1 Hide Column. This option allows you to hide a column from displaying. Often used to control what information is shared with 3rd parties.
2 Filter. Allows further filtering based on values in the selected column. Allows for drilling into a smaller list of results from a larger data selected when the report was compiled.
3 Sort Ascending. Modifies the sort to use the values in the selected column from smallest / oldest to largest / newest. Modify the default sort order.
4 Sort Descending. Modifies the sort to use the values in the selected column from largest / newest to smallest / oldest. Modify the default sort order.

NOTE: Reports that contain multiple tables will need each table sorted independently. Sorting and filtering works best if the compiled reports data all exists within a single table.

 

The layout of an exported report will reflect any modifications made using the column options menu. Modifications are not saved between sessions, so need to be applied each time the report is compiled.
