Long, and short, text fields can be populated by typing directly into the field or by pasting copied text.
Short Text Fields
Short text fields are designed to be used when a short value is anticipated to be saved. Each short text field has a 255 character limit.
Long Text Fields
Long text fields allow for all keyboard characters to be entered and are designed to hold up to 5000 characters (or about 1.5 pages) of text or more. Frequently Long Text fields are used to capture remarks or narratives.
Long text fields also allow for more formatting options which can be controlled using the formatting ribbon at the top of the field.
Prefilled Text Fields
Prefilled text fields do not allow for editing. These fields are often used to provide guidance or instructions on how to complete a specific document.
CAUTION: When copying and pasting text into Long Text Fields, ensure the full text value fits. The field will not save more then 5000 characters.
