How to reduce video file size

The FACS file cabinet has a 50 MB file size limit. This limit can make loading raw video files difficult. Please follow the steps below to reduce video file size so video files can be loaded into the File Cabinet.

There are a number of free video compression software tools available to reduce the file size of videos without reducing the quality of the video. VLC Media Player is one such tool that works very well in reducing video file size without reducing video quality. Please follow the steps below to download VLC and convert your video files.

Step Action
1 Click here to download VLC
2 After it's done installing, click Media > Convert/Save
3 click Add and select your video file(s)
4 Click Convert/Save to bring up the conversion options.
5 In the Profile dropdown, select the type of conversion needed. Selecting 'Video for Youtube SD' is a good place to start if you're unsure of the conversion needed.
6 Click Browse to select a destination location for the converted file.
7 Click Start to start the conversion.
