Email notifications are controlled within the User Preferences > Notifications area.
Notification Triggers
There are three actions which can trigger an email notification. Some triggers, like adding a Comment, can be controlled by the User who is performing the action.

Notification Control
Receipt of email notifications can be controlled on a user-by-user basis, under the User Preferences > Notification menu area. Notifications will only be received if 1) the User who performs the trigger action elects to generate a notification and 2) the receiving User has notifications enabled for that Document/Project/Trigger event.
Notifications can be controlled by Project, Document Template and Trigger Event. Set the corresponding switch to true (colored) to receive a specific notification.
By default, all notifications are enabled for each new User. To turn off all notifications, click the 'All notifications' switch at the top of the Notifications page.
