Use different threads, within the Comment area, to easily manage conversations with different parties.
Threads
A Thread is created each time a new Comment is added to an Entry. Threads are contained within page dividing lines to easily separate out different topics.
Replying to an existing comment includes the reply within the existing Thread.
Let's take a look at an example Submittal.
1 Comment, 1 Thread
In this example, there is only 1 comment on the Submittal. A message from the Contractor to the Project Engineer.
2 Comments, 2 Threads
The Project Engineer will want the Designer to add their input. To secure this input, the Project Engineer will add a new comment, creating a new Thread, for the discussion with the Designer.
In this example, there are 2 comments on the Submittal, each in a different Thread. Notice how the second Thread is Private, the comments in this Thread are not visible to the Contractor.
Here are the same 2 comments with the Threads highlighted.
Each Thread is separated by a gray divider.
3 Comments, 2 Threads
Here we see the Designers reply to the Project Engineer. This adds another comment into an existing Thread.
Notice how the Reply from the Designer is nested (indented) under the Project Engineer's original comment.
5 Comments, 2 Threads
Here the Project Engineer sent a reply to both the Contractor and Designer. Since the conversation is with the same people the Project Engineer included the reply within the existing Threads.
TIP: Create a new Thread, by submitting a new Comment, each time a new topic related to the entry is identified. It is best to keep a thread Public or Private to avoid confusion on who information was shared with.
Please view the knowledge base page How to Add a Comment to learn more about adding Comments and Public Comments vs. Private Comments.
